P Kai opened it’s doors to a very appreciative public in 2002 in the very busy shopping centre in Hampton, a new township just outside Peterborough.
A fantastic choice of location, a commuter area with lot of new houses being built, amazing footfall the business has gone from strength to strength. Starting with three stylists (including salon owner Kai Wan), and one junior within a month they were recruiting team members to help cope with demand. The salon now employs a team of 35.
In 2008 salon owners Kai & Jenny decided it was time to open in the city centre and they were lucky to find a smaller, intimate business in the city’s Victorian Westgate Arcade, just perfect for their needs.
Now in 2014 the salons have enjoyed continual growth and success both in the Cambridgeshire area and beyond with examples of the salon creativity (some of which has been photographed by Kai), being featured in both consumer and trade publications worldwide.
Working with their preferred salon manufacturer partner, Wella Professionals the team headed by Kai undertake artistic presentations throughout the country, at the same time ensuring that their own team are constantly challenged with new skills.
Kai heaps praise on his wife Jenny, a director of the business which, according to Kai: “Wouldn’t survive without her brilliant business acumen, looking after all the facts, figures, payroll, marketing… she really is the power behind the throne and it frees me to be the creative and artistic force, while she keeps the business on track.”
Regarded locally as a warm, welcoming, friendly, family run business, P.Kai salons are known for great customer service and skilful, creative, fashionable hairdressing.
A very exciting 2011 with both Donna Tovey (manager of Westgate) and Kai nominated for their exceptional hairdressing talents in the British Hairdressing Awards – for Newcomer of the Year and Eastern Hairdresser of the Year respectively.
